SYNOPSIS
Backwater is a short fiction film about a man and a woman in the Swedish wilderness. They are escaping a past in the city, which turns out to be a harder task than they had anticipated. The couple has become each other’s worst enemy, and the tension is high between them as they leave the shore on a small canoe. The surrounding cold and harsh nature plays its own role and works as both a mirror and counterpoint to the two characters’ situation and state of mind. – A quiet and yet terrifying film.
